Our story begins over 120 years ago. The Norfleet family moved to Newberry from Virginia for the phosphate industry. They began raising cattle to feed the family and the phosphate employees. This began the start of the cattle ranching industry for the Norfleets.
From then on, the Norfleet family has been in the cattle ranching industry since 1903. ED Norfleet was born in 1937 and has resided in Newberry his whole life. While he was in high school his interest in ranching only grew, leading him to purchase land along with a few more cows.
Once he graduated in 1955, he expanded and grew the cattle operation. In 1963, he formed and officially named the ranch “Norfleet Cattle Company”. He worked hard and diligently to grow it to what it is today along with the help of his son, Tripp, who worked on the family ranch from the time he could walk.
The ranch has always been a cow/calf operation. We have a large brood cow herd that produce calfs every year. Once we wean our calfs off of their mother, we sell them on the national Superior Livestock Auction. Our cattle is our biggest passion and we love this way of life. It is more than a job or a career. It is a true passion and love.
The goal
We have always wanted to achieve our goal of selling directly to the consumer. In doing this, we would be able to provide our beef to our own local community. The customers would be able to buy local home raised beef from right down the road. They can see where they are being raised. Our cattle that are born on our ranch in Newberry, FL will be able to stay local. The 20 year dream of meat market has now become a reality that allows us to reach our goal and make the dream come true.

NC BEEF & Seafood Market, Norfleet Cattle Company’s ultimate goal is to provide fresh quality locally raised predominantly black angus beef to our community and customers. Our story started with raising cattle to provide for our families, now here we are 120 years later working to achieve practically the same goal. To provide the highest quality, fresh, locally grown beef to our local community. Our dream is to give the consumer a wonderful experience, enjoying the flavorful taste of our local beef.
